Pueblo fire department installs smoke detectors in Mesa Junction and Blocks neighborhoods

Pueblo, CO – The Pueblo Fire Department, working alongside volunteers and the American Red Cross of Colorado, conducted a community safety initiative over the weekend by walking through the Mesa Junction and Blocks neighborhoods to install smoke detectors in homes identified as needing them.

In total, crews installed 87 smoke detectors across 26 homes, helping make 50 residents safer through improved early-warning fire protection.

Officials said the effort reflects the department’s ongoing mission to protect life and property, with a continued emphasis on prevention, public awareness, and fire safety education within the community.

The Pueblo Fire Department also expressed appreciation to its community partners and to Passkey Restaurant for providing lunch to firefighters and volunteers who participated in the outreach effort.
