MONUMENT, Colo. — The Monument Police Department is asking the public for assistance as investigators continue to uncover new information in an ongoing sexual assault case involving a 19-year-old suspect.
According to police, the investigation began on February 14 following a report of sexual assault. As the case developed, Spencer Adam Johnson, 19, was identified as a suspect. Authorities say Johnson has been charged with kidnapping as well as multiple sexual offenses. He is currently in custody in Texas and is awaiting extradition back to Colorado.
During the course of their investigation, detectives reportedly uncovered additional allegations against Johnson, some of which date back as far as four years. Due to the nature and timeline of these claims, investigators believe there may be more victims who have not yet come forward.
“We are urging anyone who may have information related to this case, or who believes they may have been a victim, to contact our Investigations Division,” the department said in a statement.
The Monument Police Department is encouraging potential victims or witnesses to reach out by calling the Investigations Division at (719) 419-9791.
This is an active and ongoing investigation. More information will be released as it becomes available.
