Police Involved Shooting in Colorado Springs Leaves Woman with Life-Threatening Injuries

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A disturbance call led to a violent confrontation between law enforcement and a suspect Sunday afternoon, resulting in a woman sustaining life-threatening injuries and the suspect still on the run.

According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), the call reporting a disturbance came in around 12:25 p.m. on Sunday. When the first officer arrived on the scene, gunshots were heard, and the officer immediately returned fire, striking back at the suspect. The suspect fired several rounds in return, though the officer was unharmed. The suspect then fled the scene on foot, eluding authorities.

The woman, who was reportedly injured during the incident, was rushed to the hospital with serious gunshot wounds. Her condition remains critical, and her status is currently unknown. CSPD has not released her identity.

Despite a swift police response, which included the deployment of tactical teams, K-9 units, and CSPD drones, the suspect remains at large. Authorities have confirmed that the individual is considered armed and dangerous.

In line with protocol, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office has assumed control of the investigation, as the shooting involves an officer from CSPD.

As of now, no arrests have been made, and the search for the suspect continues.

Residents in the area are advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to local authorities.
