COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – Voters in Colorado Springs are reminded that Monday is the deadline to mail in ballots for the April 1 Municipal Election. With all six city council seats on the ballot, residents are encouraged to vote for their district based on their place of residence.
For those planning to return their ballots by mail, time is running out. After Monday, voters will need to drop off their ballots at one of the 24/7 drop-off boxes located around the city or bring them directly to the city clerk’s office.
Sarah Johnson, the Colorado Springs City Clerk, emphasized the convenience of the drop-off boxes. “We have 28 ballot boxes, so I really encourage everyone to just drop it in one of those boxes,” Johnson said. “Basically, 90% of the people drop it in a box every year, and we get fewer and fewer returned by mail.”
The drop-off boxes are available for use up until Election Night, ensuring voters have ample opportunity to ensure their ballots are counted.
In an effort to provide voters with comprehensive information on the candidates, News5, in partnership with The Gazette, hosted a series of six city council forums for each district. Moderated by News5’s Alasyn Zimmerman, the forums allowed candidates to address key issues facing the city, including public safety and growth. Voters can access the forums online to hear directly from the candidates and make informed decisions before casting their votes.
As the election approaches, the city encourages residents to make sure their voices are heard by returning their ballots before the deadline.
