Colorado Springs, CO — A man has been identified in a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred on the evening of Wednesday, March 12, at the intersection of North Academy Boulevard and Rebecca Lane on the northeast side of Colorado Springs.
According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), the crash involved a motorcycle and a pickup truck. The motorcyclist, 31-year-old Shane Golden, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police reported that the driver of the pickup truck fled the scene immediately following the crash.
Following an investigation, CSPD authorities were able to locate and arrest the suspect, 22-year-old David Medina. Medina has been charged with driving under the influence and hit-and-run involving death.
This marks the fourth traffic fatality in Colorado Springs this year. At the same time in 2024, the city had already experienced 15 traffic-related deaths, highlighting a significant decline in fatalities compared to last year.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have urged anyone with additional information about the crash to come forward.
