Bustang Bus Crashes in San Miguel County; Driver Hospitalized

San Miguel County, CO — A Bustang bus driver was hospitalized Wednesday afternoon after the vehicle veered off the road and rolled onto its side in San Miguel County.

The crash occurred shortly before 4:30 p.m. on Highway 62, near milepost 2. According to the Colorado State Patrol (CSP), the westbound bus began to drift off the right side of the road while navigating a right curve. The vehicle then climbed an embankment before rolling approximately one-quarter turn and landing on its left side.

The driver, a 54-year-old man, was transported to a local hospital. CSP did not release further details regarding the extent of his injuries. Fortunately, none of the passengers aboard the bus were injured during the incident.

The bus has since been removed from the roadway, and both lanes of Highway 62 have reopened to traffic. CSP is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash. The public is urged to contact CSP dispatch at (970) 249-9575 if they have any information regarding the incident.

Bustang, operated by the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), is an interregional express bus service that connects major population centers, employment hubs, and local transit agencies along the I-25 and I-70 corridors.

As the investigation progresses, authorities are working to determine what led to the crash and ensure the safety of passengers and drivers in the future.
