PUEBLO, Co. — The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) has announced that the County Sheriffs of Colorado (CSOC) will be awarding a $1,000 scholarship to a local high school senior in Pueblo County. This scholarship program, established by CSOC in 1978, marks its 47th year of offering financial assistance to students seeking higher education or vocational training.
The scholarship, which is open to legal permanent residents of Pueblo County, is designed to support students who are either currently enrolled in or planning to attend a vocational training program or institution of higher learning in Colorado. Both full-time and part-time students are eligible to apply, with no restrictions on the field of study or training.
In a statement, the PCSO emphasized that the scholarship is awarded based on several key criteria, including leadership, merit, character, involvement, and career purpose. Applicants are encouraged to demonstrate these qualities in their application.
“This scholarship is a great opportunity for our community’s youth to further their education and pursue their career goals,” said a spokesperson from the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office. “We are proud to be part of a program that has helped so many students over the years.”
The application is available on the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office website. Completed applications can be submitted in person at the PCSO office located at 909 Court Street, at the substation at 320 East Joe Martinez Boulevard, or by mail to Alyssa U-Her-Nik at 909 Court Street, Pueblo, CO, 81003.
Students interested in applying should be aware that the deadline to submit applications is March 17 at 5 p.m.
