Colorado Springs Police Officer Injured in Crash While Responding to Disturbance Call

Colorado Springs, CO – A Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) officer was hospitalized following a crash late Saturday night in southeast Colorado Springs. The incident occurred around 10:45 p.m. at the intersection of South Academy Boulevard and Drennan Road.

According to CSPD, the officer was responding to a disturbance call when they entered the intersection without activating their sirens. The officer’s vehicle collided with another vehicle that was traveling east on Drennan Road. Authorities have not released the officer’s name.

The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash was not injured, and CSPD confirmed that the officer was transported to a local hospital. While the officer’s current condition is not fully known, CSPD reports that they are expected to survive their injuries.

At this time, law enforcement does not believe impairment was a factor in the crash. The investigation is ongoing, but further details have yet to be disclosed.

CSPD is asking the public to avoid speculation as the incident remains under investigation.
