Colorado Springs, Colo. – A man was arrested Sunday morning after allegedly strangling a woman during a domestic dispute in Colorado Springs, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department.
At approximately 10:06 a.m., police were dispatched to a disturbance call in the 2500 block of Royalty Court. Upon arrival, officers were informed that a man, later identified as 45-year-old Francisco Aragon, was seen strangling a woman before placing her in a vehicle and leaving the scene.
Officers observed Aragon entering a nearby residence but said he refused to come to the door when they attempted to make contact. Concerned for the woman’s well-being, police forced their way inside the residence to ensure that the victim was not in need of immediate medical attention. However, officers found that the woman was not present.
Through conversations with the victim’s family, authorities learned that she had been driven to a local convenience store and was found to be unharmed. Police were unable to establish direct contact with the victim at that time.
Aragon was taken into custody and faces serious charges related to domestic violence, including second-degree assault and kidnapping. The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
Police are continuing to ensure the safety of the victim and encourage anyone with additional information to come forward.
