Police Investigate Shooting at RTD Light Rail Station in Greenwood Village

Greenwood Village, CO — Authorities are investigating a shooting that took place at the Dayton RTD Light Rail Station on Friday afternoon, leaving two victims injured. The Greenwood Village Police Department responded to reports of shots fired at the station, located at 4151 South Dallas Street, at approximately 3:15 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound and a second victim who appeared to have been injured in an assault. Both victims were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. The identities of the individuals and the extent of their injuries have not been released at this time.

Witnesses at the scene reported seeing multiple suspects fleeing the area shortly after the incident, though police have not yet identified any suspects. The investigation remains ongoing, with police from Denver, Aurora, and Greenwood Village working together to search for those involved.

As a precautionary measure, several nearby schools, including Cherry Creek High School, were placed on secure status while authorities investigated. The lockdowns were later lifted, and the school district confirmed that students and staff were safe.

The RTD light rail system was briefly impacted by the incident, with delays in service as law enforcement conducted their investigation. However, by 4:24 p.m., normal train operations resumed.

The police are urging anyone with information about the shooting or the suspects to come forward. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to piece together details surrounding the event.
