Executive Director of Jones Charter Academy, Dave Martin, confirmed that surveillance footage from the school’s cameras revealed the teacher striking the student in the lower back of the head with an open hand. The altercation occurred in a hallway between classes, though Martin emphasized that the student was not injured during the incident.

After a thorough 24-hour investigation, the teacher was promptly dismissed from his position. Martin added that the incident was immediately reported to local authorities.

This swift action by the school administration highlights its commitment to maintaining a safe environment for students and upholding high standards of behavior for staff members. The school continues to cooperate with law enforcement as the investigation moves forward.
