PUEBLO, Colo. — A woman was arrested early Sunday morning after her vehicle crashed into a home on Elmwood Circle, according to the Pueblo Police Department.
The incident occurred shortly after midnight, near the intersection of Pueblo Boulevard and Hollywood Drive. Officers, who were conducting speed enforcement on Pueblo Boulevard, observed three vehicles speeding in the area. One of these vehicles, a sedan, later crashed into a residence on Elmwood Circle.
Upon arriving at the scene, police found two women inside the vehicle. The driver, identified as 18-year-old Jaiden Maes, was behind the wheel when the crash occurred. The passenger’s identity has not been released by authorities.
As emergency responders worked to secure the area, the engine of the vehicle caught fire. Police and emergency personnel were able to safely remove both women from the car before it became fully engulfed in flames. Both were transported to a local hospital for evaluation. While Maes did not sustain any serious injuries, her passenger is expected to survive her injuries, according to police.
Maes was arrested and taken to the Pueblo County Detention Center. She now faces several charges, including vehicular reckless assault, operating an uninsured vehicle, and driving without a valid license.
