PUEBLO, CO — A Pueblo Police officer who was injured in a shootout last Tuesday night has been discharged from the hospital, according to a spokesperson from the Pueblo Police Department. The officer, who was not identified, was released over the weekend and is now recovering at home.
The incident took place in the Bessemer neighborhood, where officers were involved in a violent confrontation with a suspect, later identified as 35-year-old Billy Soto. Soto reportedly opened fire on officers, prompting them to return fire. Soto was fatally shot during the exchange.
While one officer has made a full recovery and been released, another remains in the hospital. This second officer, whose condition was also not disclosed, is currently listed in stable condition.
