Pueblo police arrest four in string of vehicle thefts, possible links to more crimes

Pueblo, CO – Four individuals were arrested Thursday following a crash involving a stolen vehicle, which police say may be part of a larger pattern of auto thefts in Pueblo.

According to the Pueblo Police Department, the arrests took place in the early morning hours of June 12, after officers recovered multiple stolen vehicles.

When officers approached, suspects fled in one of the stolen cars but quickly lost control and crashed near the intersection of Pueblo Boulevard and Redwood Lane.

The occupants abandoned the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot but were later apprehended.

Two of those arrested were identified as Gabriel Cervantez, 24, and Jynessa Wisthoff, 20. Police also arrested two juveniles. All four face multiple counts of motor vehicle theft. Cervantez and Wisthoff are also charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Investigators believe the group may be connected to as many as 12 separate vehicle thefts over a 48-hour period. In addition to the stolen vehicles, authorities say the suspects could be responsible for significant property damage caused by broken windows—estimated in the thousands of dollars.

The Pueblo Police Department stated that further charges may be filed as the investigation continues. Officials emphasized that the information released is preliminary and subject to change as new evidence emerges.
