PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. – The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office is extending a helping hand to neighboring counties by offering its mobile command center for use during major emergencies and large public events. The unit, which has been in service for less than 20 years, has accumulated only 5,000 miles in that time, making it a well-maintained and reliable resource for regional first responders.
The mobile command center is designed to provide a secure, organized space where emergency management teams can plan and coordinate during critical incidents such as wildfires or large-scale public gatherings. The unit is equipped with advanced communication tools and can serve as a central hub for response teams, ensuring that operations run smoothly and efficiently.
Joshua Johnson, Emergency Management Coordinator for the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office, emphasized the importance of making the unit available to surrounding areas. “We want to make sure it is out there and our partners know about it, so they can utilize it if they have an incident or a planned event in their area,” Johnson said.
The Sheriff’s Office is opening the command center to neighboring counties, including Fremont, Huerfano, Otero, and El Paso counties. This collaboration is aimed at enhancing regional preparedness and response capabilities, particularly in areas that may not have access to similar resources.
By offering this mobile unit, Pueblo County is strengthening the support network for local communities, ensuring that emergency services are equipped to handle large-scale situations effectively. The initiative also highlights the Sheriff’s Office’s commitment to fostering partnerships across county lines to improve safety and coordination during emergencies.
For more information on how neighboring counties can request the use of the mobile command center, residents and local officials are encouraged to contact the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office directly.
