Huerfano County, CO — A series of five separate rollover incidents on Interstate 25 near Walsenburg led to multiple people being hospitalized, according to the Colorado State Patrol (CSP). The incidents, which occurred over a span of several miles, resulted in significant traffic disruptions and required emergency response teams to attend to the injured.
The first incident took place on southbound I-25, near Walsenburg, when an SUV towing a trailer lost control. While the SUV remained upright, the trailer flipped onto its side, blocking traffic. There were five occupants in the SUV, all of whom were transported to a nearby hospital. The exact conditions of the individuals involved have not been confirmed at this time.
Shortly after, a second rollover occurred three miles north of the first incident. CSP reported that a semi-truck was involved, and both lanes of southbound traffic were temporarily blocked. Fortunately, no injuries were reported from this accident.
A third incident occurred near the same area, also involving a semi-truck. The crash led to the closure of both the left southbound and northbound lanes of I-25. The truck driver was taken to the hospital, though their condition remains unknown.
In the following incidents, two trucks hauling trailers rolled over on northbound I-25 near Walsenburg. The first of these rollovers did not result in any injuries, while the second incident caused minor injuries to those involved. Both incidents led to significant lane blockages, further disrupting traffic in the area.
CSP continues to investigate the cause of the accidents, though road conditions and the presence of large trucks hauling trailers may have played a role. Emergency responders worked swiftly to clear the wreckage and restore traffic flow, but delays are expected as clean-up efforts continue.
Authorities are urging drivers to exercise caution in the area, as investigations into the series of accidents unfold.
