Colorado Springs, CO – A tragic accident earlier this month claimed the life of 20-year-old Chelsie Willing, a motorcyclist who died in a collision at the intersection of East Platte Avenue and North Prospect Street, near Memorial Park.
According to the El Paso County Coroner’s Office, Willing was pronounced dead at the scene after the crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. on April 20. The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) reported that a car, traveling southbound on North Prospect Street, had stopped at a stop sign before proceeding into the roadway. Willing, who was traveling westbound, collided with the vehicle at the intersection.
Despite efforts from first responders to perform lifesaving measures, Willing was found in the roadway and was unable to be revived. CSPD confirmed that she died at the scene of the accident.
This incident marks the ninth traffic-related death in Colorado Springs this year. By comparison, the city had recorded 16 traffic deaths by the same time in 2024. Over the past 365 days, 42 individuals have lost their lives in traffic accidents across the city.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. At this time, no charges have been filed, and police have not disclosed further details about the incident.
