Manitou Springs Repeat Offender Arrested with Weapons, Ammunition, and Presumed Fentanyl

Manitou Springs, CO – A repeat offender was arrested in Manitou Springs last month after authorities discovered multiple firearms, ammunition, and suspected fentanyl inside his vehicle. The arrest occurred in the 1000 block of Manitou Avenue, where police were responding to reports of a suspicious vehicle.

According to the Manitou Springs Police Department, patrol deputies found Kohl Nicol, a known felon, asleep inside the vehicle. Upon further investigation, officers uncovered several weapons, ammunition, and equipment typically associated with drug distribution. They also found what is presumed to be fentanyl, a dangerous and highly potent synthetic opioid.

Nicol, who had two pending cases in the Fourth Judicial District, was taken into custody on suspicion of several charges. These charges include possession of firearms and ammunition, drug possession with intent to distribute, and driving under the influence of drugs. In addition, Nicol faces multiple charges from his previous legal troubles, including possession of controlled substances, drug paraphernalia, and driving under restraint.

Nicol’s prior cases involved serious drug offenses, including charges related to the distribution of fentanyl, a drug that has contributed to the ongoing opioid crisis in Colorado and across the nation. The presence of fentanyl in Nicol’s vehicle has raised concerns about the potential dangers of drug trafficking in the area.

The arrest comes amid continued efforts by local law enforcement to address the rise in drug-related crimes and the illegal possession of firearms in the region. Nicol’s case highlights the ongoing challenges faced by authorities in combating both drug abuse and the illegal weapon trade.

As the investigation unfolds, Nicol remains in custody awaiting further legal proceedings. Authorities have emphasized the importance of community awareness and cooperation in addressing the growing concerns over fentanyl distribution and firearm-related offenses.

This arrest underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to prevent further harm and ensure public safety in the Manitou Springs area.
