COLORADO SPRINGS, CO — A man is dead following a police-involved shooting that occurred on Monday, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD). The incident unfolded after officers responded to a call reporting a man who was allegedly breaking into vehicles and threatening a person with a firearm.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers located the suspect inside a vehicle. When they attempted to make contact with him, authorities say the man exited the vehicle while holding a firearm. At that point, at least one officer discharged their weapon, striking the man. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
CSPD confirmed that no other individuals were injured during the incident. The identity of the deceased has not been released and will be made available at a later time by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office.
