Man Arrested in Pueblo County Domestic Violence Case

PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. – A 36-year-old man is behind bars following a domestic violence incident in Avondale, according to the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office.

Taggart Reike was arrested on Friday, April 25, and is facing multiple charges including second-degree assault, harassment, reckless endangerment, and domestic violence. Deputies say the arrest stems from a disturbance reported the evening prior.

Authorities responded to Reike’s home around 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, after receiving a call regarding a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, deputies found Reike’s 18-year-old wife outside the residence with visible injuries. According to the sheriff’s office, the woman told deputies that Reike had assaulted her.

Emergency responders treated the victim at the scene before transporting her to a local hospital, where she was admitted with serious injuries.

At the time of the initial response, deputies attempted to contact Reike, but he refused to come out of the home. A warrant for his arrest was issued, and he was taken into custody without incident the following day. Officials noted that Reike had previously been involved in a standoff with law enforcement in 2020.

Reike is currently being held at the Pueblo County Jail on a $50,000 bond.

In light of the charges, authorities emphasized that Reike remains innocent until proven guilty. As the investigation continues, News5 is reminding the public that help is available for those experiencing domestic violence.
