Man Arrested After Causing Extensive Damage at Alamosa Burger King

ALAMOSA, CO — A man was arrested on March 7 after a bizarre and destructive incident at a local Burger King restaurant, leading to significant damage and a violent confrontation with law enforcement.

According to the Alamosa Police Department, officers were dispatched to the fast-food chain at 2501 Main Street at 8:32 a.m. after employees reported that a man had locked himself in the restaurant’s bathroom and was refusing to come out. Staff members noticed water leaking from under the bathroom door, further complicating the situation.

Upon arrival, officers attempted to communicate with the suspect for over 30 minutes. However, the man ceased responding and managed to enter the ceiling space above the bathroom. While hiding in the ceiling, he began kicking the walls, creating a large hole. Police later estimated the damage at a staggering $50,000.

After an hour of negotiation, the man eventually surrendered peacefully and was taken into custody. However, the situation took a violent turn during transport. While in the back of a police car, the suspect, later identified as 25-year-old Dare Mezidor, allegedly bit an officer on the arm, causing serious injury. Mezidor also kicked the door and window of the police car, further complicating his charges.

Before being booked into the Alamosa County Jail, Mezidor was taken to the San Luis Valley Health Regional Medical Center to be evaluated for injuries. He was subsequently booked on multiple charges, including second-degree burglary, second-degree assault on a police officer, criminal mischief (two counts), resisting arrest, and obstructing a peace officer.

The incident left local authorities shaken, with the police department highlighting the extensive damage caused by Mezidor’s actions and the serious nature of the assault on an officer. The injured officer is currently recovering from the bite.

Mezidor’s motives for the chaotic outburst remain unclear, but the situation has left a lasting impact on the Alamosa community. Police are continuing their investigation, and Mezidor is set to face a court hearing in the coming weeks.
