BOULDER, Colo. – Authorities are investigating a death that may be linked to a missing University of Colorado student. The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at approximately 10:41 a.m. on Saturday, reporting the discovery of a woman’s body in the 40-mile marker area of Boulder Canyon.
City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks rangers were the first to arrive at the scene, where they found the woman’s body. According to the sheriff’s office, the woman’s description matched that of a student who had been reported missing to the University of Colorado Police Department earlier in the week.
While the investigation is ongoing, officials have not yet confirmed the woman’s identity. The Boulder County Coroner’s Office is working to determine the cause of death. Authorities have stated that the woman’s name will not be released until her family is notified and she is properly identified.
As a result of the investigation, Boulder Canyon Drive was temporarily closed, while deputies and investigators continued to examine the area.
The University of Colorado Police Department is assisting in the investigation, as the search for the missing student had raised concerns over the past few days. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as they continue their efforts to determine what led to the woman’s death.
The investigation remains in its early stages, and more details are expected to emerge as officials continue to work on identifying the deceased and determining the circumstances surrounding her death.
