Free Tax Preparation Services Available at Pikes Peak Library District

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Pikes Peak Library District (PPLD) is once again partnering with AARP and VITA to offer free tax preparation services to community members. From January 29 through April 12, individuals can meet with IRS-certified volunteers to file their 2024 state and federal taxes at no cost.

This year’s tax assistance is being provided at four library locations across El Paso County, including High Prairie, Sand Creek, Fountain Libraries, and Library 21C. The service is open to people of all ages and income levels, with AARP’s Tax-Aide program available to everyone regardless of AARP membership.

However, it is important to note that VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) services come with income limitations.

Kim Melchor, PPLD’s Community Engagement Coordinator, expressed her enthusiasm about the collaboration. “Partnering with local tax organizations to make tax preparation services available to our community is just a natural fit,” she said. “We’ve seen such success with this program in past years, and it continues to be a valuable resource for those in need.”

The free tax preparation services are expected to benefit a wide range of individuals, from young adults filing for the first time to senior citizens looking for assistance with their taxes. Volunteers will be on hand to ensure accurate and efficient filing, providing much-needed support for the local community during tax season.

For more information or to schedule an appointment, community members can visit the PPLD website or contact one of the participating library branches.
