Fort Carson Army Staff Sergeant Arrested in Cocaine Distribution Case

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. — A Fort Carson Army Staff Sergeant, Juan Gabriel Orona-Rodriguez, has been arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on federal charges related to cocaine distribution. The FBI announced the arrest on Thursday morning, detailing his alleged involvement in a criminal operation that spans drug trafficking and illegal firearms sales.

Orona-Rodriguez, a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army, is accused of running a business named Immortal Security LLC, which was reportedly providing security services for an unlawful nightclub known as Warike. The investigation, led by the FBI in cooperation with the Rocky Mountain Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and U.S. Army officials, uncovered troubling links between the business and a significant drug distribution network.

According to the FBI’s arrest affidavit, Immortal Security LLC had ties to illegal activity at the Warike nightclub, a location the DEA raided on Sunday, April 27. Prior to the raid, the Colorado Springs Police Department had received multiple reports about suspicious activities taking place at the nightclub. During the operation, agents seized a variety of evidence, including large quantities of cocaine. The DEA also reported that other members of the Immortal Security staff were believed to be involved in the drug trafficking scheme.

In its press release, the FBI shared images of the cocaine discovered during the raid. While some bags of cocaine were found outside the premises, others were reportedly flushed down toilets by individuals as law enforcement closed in on the site. The agency noted that these findings were only part of the total drugs involved in the operation.

The affidavit further revealed that Orona-Rodriguez’s phone was a crucial source of evidence, containing numerous text conversations that allegedly discussed cocaine sales, with some of the transactions taking place at the same location as the Warike nightclub. In addition, the documents pointed to another disturbing conversation in which Orona-Rodriguez allegedly arranged the sale of illegal firearms with a person believed to be in the country unlawfully.

The FBI’s investigation into Orona-Rodriguez and his associates underscores the growing concerns over criminal activity within the military and civilian sectors alike. As the case progresses, authorities will continue to evaluate the extent of the alleged network and its ties to other criminal activities in the region.

Orona-Rodriguez now faces a series of federal charges, and authorities are working to determine if additional arrests will be made as the investigation continues. The case remains active, with further developments expected in the coming weeks.
