Convicted Felon Arrested for Stealing Rifle from Roommate in Avondale

AVONDALE, Colo. — A convicted felon was taken into custody earlier this week after allegedly stealing firearms from his roommate, according to the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred Tuesday at a residence in the 67000 block of East U.S. Highway 50 in Avondale. Deputies responded to the home after receiving a report from a man who claimed that his roommate, 39-year-old Brian Feltner, had stolen two rifles from him.

Upon arrival, deputies located Feltner sitting in a vehicle parked at the property. Authorities say Feltner attempted to flee the scene in the vehicle but was quickly stopped and taken into custody at gunpoint without further incident.

A search of the vehicle uncovered an SKS rifle, which deputies say Feltner admitted to taking. According to the sheriff’s office, Feltner told deputies he took the rifle as “collateral.”

Further investigation revealed that Feltner, a convicted felon, was prohibited from possessing firearms. He was also on parole at the time of the incident and had two outstanding warrants for his arrest.

Feltner was transported to the Pueblo County Jail, where he was booked on the outstanding warrants. He also faces new charges, including theft and possession of a weapon by a previous offender.

The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident.
