Colorado Springs Police K9s Receive Protective Body Armor Thanks to Generous Donation

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO — Three K9s from the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) — Loki, Nyx, and Blue — are now better protected thanks to a generous donation of body armor. The bullet and stab protective vests were provided by Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to equipping law enforcement K9s across the country with life-saving gear.

The vests were made possible through charitable contributions from sponsors, though the specific names of the sponsors honoring each K9 were not immediately disclosed. The donation comes at a time when the safety of K9s, who play a crucial role in law enforcement efforts, is more important than ever.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. was founded in 2009 and has since provided almost 6,000 vests to K9s nationwide. These vests, valued at approximately $7 million, have been distributed to K9s in all 50 states. The program is available to dogs that are at least 20 months old and actively serve with law enforcement agencies or related organizations.

With nearly 30,000 law enforcement K9s in the United States, the efforts of Vested Interest are crucial in ensuring these dogs can safely perform their duties, which often involve high-risk situations. The donation to CSPD’s K9s — Loki, Nyx, and Blue — is a testament to the continued dedication of Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. to supporting the K9s who serve and protect communities.

CSPD expressed gratitude for the donation, which provides their K9 officers with an added layer of protection as they assist in a variety of law enforcement tasks.

Vested Interest in K9s continues to make an impact across the nation, supporting the brave dogs that work tirelessly alongside law enforcement officers.
