Colorado Springs, Colo. — A shooting incident at Alta Apartments in Colorado Springs turned into a tense situation on Saturday morning, as police discovered a deceased man with a grenade in his hand. The shooting occurred at approximately 9:30 a.m., prompting immediate response from officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).
Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement found the man dead from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. Officers also observed that he was holding a grenade, which led them to take swift precautionary measures. Concerned about the potential threat, police evacuated the apartment complex, clearing nearby units to ensure the safety of residents.
The CSPD Regional Explosive Unit (REU) was called in to handle the situation, given the presence of the grenade. Upon further investigation inside the residence, the REU discovered two additional grenades. Fortunately, the grenades were later deemed non-hazardous, and there were no further threats to public safety.
