COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — An officer was struck by a vehicle Tuesday morning but is expected to recover, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).
The incident occurred at approximately 7:15 a.m. in the 5300 block of Palomino Ranch Point, near the intersection of Tutt Boulevard and Stetson Hills Boulevard. Police had been dispatched to investigate a report of two individuals passed out inside a vehicle in the area.
Upon arrival, officers observed drug paraphernalia inside the car. When the individuals inside the vehicle regained consciousness, the driver allegedly struck an officer with the vehicle.
Following the initial incident, CSPD received a separate report of the same vehicle being driven recklessly near the intersection of Ensemble Heights and Conductors Point, located north of the original location. The vehicle then collided with a landscaping boulder, after which both occupants fled on foot.
Authorities later apprehended both the driver and passenger. The driver, whose identity has not been released, faces multiple charges including assault on a peace officer.
The injured officer’s name has not been disclosed, but police have confirmed the officer is expected to be okay.
