CASTLE ROCK, Colo. – A routine traffic stop over the weekend turned into a major drug bust for the Castle Rock Police Department. Officers from the B-side Watch III team recovered nearly 50 grams of fentanyl, along with 8 grams of methamphetamine, counterfeit bills, and a significant amount of cash.
The traffic stop, which took place on Saturday, also led to the discovery of additional illegal items. Police found that the driver of the vehicle had an outstanding warrant for their arrest. In addition, the driver was found to be in possession of a handgun and a switchblade knife.
The Castle Rock Police Department did not release the identity of the driver involved in the stop, but praised the efforts of the officers involved. “Great work by officers to take these dangerous and illegal substances out of Castle Rock,” said a spokesperson for the department.
The seizure of the fentanyl, a highly potent and dangerous drug, is seen as a significant victory in the ongoing efforts to curb the spread of illicit substances in the area. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and authorities are working to determine any further connections the driver may have to criminal activity.
Castle Rock residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activity to local authorities as police continue to target drug trafficking and other illegal operations in the community.
