Southern Colorado, CO — Black Hills Energy customers in Southern Colorado are set to see notable reductions in their natural gas bills, with decreases ranging from 3.4% to 23%, depending on the service area. This change comes following the approval of the company’s Gas Cost Adjustment (GCA) filing for the second quarter of 2025, which was granted by the Colorado Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) on Wednesday.
According to Black Hills Energy, the new rates will impact all three of the company’s base rate areas in Colorado. The company said the adjustments are designed to reflect changes in the cost of natural gas, which will be passed on to customers. The proposed rate changes will result in an average monthly bill decrease for residential customers across different regions.
Breakdown of the New Rates by Area
For customers in Base Rate Area 1, which includes Larimer and Weld Counties in the east, residents can expect a substantial reduction of 23.37%, with the average bill dropping from $89.61 to $68.87. In contrast, customers in the western part of this area, covering counties such as Delta, Eagle, and Montrose, will see a smaller decrease of 4.29%, bringing their average monthly bill down from $107.94 to $103.31.
